Reporting a problem

Transcription runs on your own device, so most problems depend on the device and the file rather than on anything we can see from our side. A report that includes the following can usually be reproduced without any back-and-forth:

• the page you were on (for example MP3 to Text or Video to Text);
• your browser and version, and whether you were on a phone, tablet or computer;
• the file type and roughly how long the recording was;
• the audio language you selected;
• the exact error message, or a screenshot of it.

Please do not attach the recording itself unless we ask for it and you are comfortable sharing it. We never need your audio to understand a bug, and the whole point of the tool is that your files stay with you.

Two problems come up more than any others. If a phone refuses to open a MOV or other large video file, exporting it as MP4 or M4A, or opening the page on a computer, almost always works — phone browsers have far less memory for decoding video than desktop ones. If the transcript contains fluent sentences nobody actually said, the usual causes are a wrong language selection or long silences; why transcription tools invent words explains how to catch and fix each one.

Privacy questions

If you want to know what data the site handles, the Privacy Policy lists every service involved. For anything it does not answer, email us with "Privacy" in the subject line.

Feedback and feature requests

We read every suggestion. Requests that come up repeatedly — a language that should be added to the menu, an export format, a problem with a particular kind of recording — are what decide what gets built next. It helps to say what you were trying to do, not only which feature you want.
